At first glance this book seems like it would be an interesting read. The book “Yaqui Delgado wants to kick your ass” gives off sort of a edgy vibe and the title grabs your attention very well. As you open the book and start to read it seems like dejavu with the story “Eleanor and Park” because the books both have that same bland inside. Both books talk about bullying and issues socially at school. When Piddy, the main character, moves in with her mom you would expect one to take an initiative and start fresh and experience new things but that’s not the case here. She seems to fall exactly in line with Eleanor from “Eleanor and Park”, she seems to think she’s not worth anything, like she isn’t the alpha. Maybe she’s not the Alpha but she is defiantly not at the bottom of the pack by any means. She is led to feel this way maybe because of the fact that her dad is not present in her life and she tends to ponder about if he was in her life and what it would be like if he actually was there for her. Another reason for her feelings maybe is because her boyfriend is horrible to her, she catches him looking at another girl’s butt and does nothing about it! She doesn’t even get upset or mad about it she just blows it off. The way these things make her feel aren’t something that she faces alone and most of these issues are common amongst kids everywhere in America. Overall I’m interested to find out what she does next and how she deals with Yoqui Delgado wanting to kick her ass.
